American Airlines, DFW Airport doubling the number of gates at new Terminal F

On Thursday, American Airlines and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport revealed amended plans for the new Terminal F that officials say will broaden the project’s impact on travelers. The agreement increases the planned investment in Terminal F to about $4 billion, which will double the number of gates than previously expected — from 15 to 31. The new plans will also increase lounge and premium space, add a new lobby check-in area, and create a dedicated parking garage. In 2023, DFW Airport and American Airlines reached a new 10-year Use and Lease Agreement with pre-approved capital investments. The agreement included the construction of Terminal F initially as a 15-gate facility. In the early plans, the new terminal could only be accessed through Terminal E via the airport’s Skylink system and didn’t include a dedicated area for check-in and other services. However, officials said that after examining new economic data and projections for North Texas, increasing the gates and accelerating expectations in Terminal F became a priority.“DFW is growing fast, and we are committed to sharing this economic opportunity with businesses in our community as we move forward,” said DeMetris Sampson, chair of the DFW Board of Directors. “DFW has become the economic engine of our region, and we know that this investment will ensure the long-term sustainability of the airport.”In Thursday’s press conference, American Airlines CEO Robert Isom also announced plans for the airline to occupy all 31 gates of the new terminal exclusively. Other airlines will still have opportunities to occupy gates in expansions happening in terminals A and C. “The future is bright for American. The future is bright for DFW, and it’s an exciting time, a pivotal moment,” said Isom. “I can’t wait to get this construction done. It’s going to be a driver for the growth of this economy.”Officials said American’s exclusivity in Terminal F aligns with the airline’s goals for better efficiencies with connecting passengers, who make up about 60% of DFW’s passenger traffic.“DFW is American’s largest and most critical hub, and with this expanded plan for Terminal F, DFW has a clear path to become the largest airline hub in the world,” said Isom. “Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and we’re excited that American and North Texas will continue to grow together.”The Terminal F project will create a new centralized Skylink Station, as well as a walking connection with Terminal D. The new parking garage for F is also set to be one of the airport’s largest, with a different design that includes built-in curbside circulation for quicker access to check-in and security.Rendering of the parking garage connecting to Terminal F“In the last decade, DFW has grown its passenger traffic by 50% and exceeded the wildest expectations of our founders to become the third-busiest airport in the world,” said Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW. “Thanks to our close partnership with Robert Isom, American Airlines remains a competitive advantage that continues to show the strength of the airport as a global hub that is supporting the massive economic growth of the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Moving forward with Terminal F in this way ensures that DFW and American maintain that momentum.”The original first phase of Terminal F is underway and still scheduled to be operational in 2027, with the newly added phases planned to come online in additional phases. The Terminal F project is part of the ongoing ‘DFW Forward’ capital plan, which totals more than $12 billion in investments aimed at improving, expanding and changing the airport’s infrastructure over the next several years. This marks the airport’s largest capital investment since opening in 1974.“8.1 million people now call North Texas home and growing rapidly every single day. And it’s not lost on me or Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson or frankly anyone here today about the critical importance that DFW Airport has meant to the growth and success of everyone in North Texas,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. This includes the approximately $3 billion program underway to completely reimagine and expand the airport’s oldest terminal, Terminal C, with all-new facilities, shops and restaurants, lounge space, check-in areas, security checkpoints and improved restrooms. The plans also include an expansion for Terminal A.Terminal FDFW AirportNov 19, 2024DFW International Airport breaks ground on new Terminal FDFW AirportJan 30, 2024DFW Airport officials continue to move forward on plans for new Terminal FDFW AirportMay 16, 2023American Airlines, DFW Airport Restart Plans for Terminal F, Announce Billions in Improvements

Trump admits he based deporation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia on picture that isn’t real

President Donald Trump appears convinced that a photoshopped image showing "MS-13" on the knuckles of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador in March, is real.During an interview aired on Tuesday with ABC News' Terry Moran, Trump referenced the image, which he posted to Truth Social on April 18, as evidence that Abrego Garcia belonged to the MS-13 gang.At the time, critics of Trump suggested that the president genuinely believed MS-13 had been tattooed on Abrego Garcia's knuckles, even though it was merely meant to be an interpretation of symbols that were actually on Abrego Garcia's hand.Trump fans, however, insisted that the president was aware that the phrase MS-13 was added as a reference and not actually tattooed on Abrego Garcia's skin. Trump's interview with ABC News appears to indicate that they were mistaken.Despite pictures from the Salvadorian government proving that MS-13 is nowhere to be found on Abrego Garcia's body, and the fact that experts on the gang say the symbols, which include a marijuana leaf and a skull, are not representative of MS-13, Trump found himself vigorously defending the false claim."Don't do that," Trump said after being corrected. "'M,' 'S,' 'one,' 'three.' It says 'M,' 'S,' 'one,' 'three.'"https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1917375813177037212/?foo=barWhen Moran correctly noted that the MS-13 was merely an attempted interpretation, Trump pushed back further."Terry, do you want me to show you the picture?" Trump asked. "He had ‘M,’ ‘S’ as clear as you can be. Not ‘interpreted.’"The interview has sent shock waves across social media, where users are dumbfounded over Trump's inadvertent admission."Holy shit. I always assumed @realDonaldTrump was just weakly implying the tattoos represented MS-13," @RalphGarman wrote. "But, no. This moron actually doesn't know they were superimposed onto the picture. America has an actual, profound idiot for a president."https://twitter.com/RalphGarman/status/1917416876789096529/?foo=bar"It's terrifying to think that the President of the United States makes decisions based off of fake images," another added.https://twitter.com/Ally_Sammarco/status/1917551768939999709After the 29-year-old Abrego Garcia was deported despite a court order forbidding it, the Trump administration admitted that the move was an "error" but said it would not work to bring him back. The Supreme Court then ruled that Abrego Garcia should be aided in returning to his home in Maryland. A Democratic senator also traveled to El Salvador to meet with him. But the vocal push to return him to the U.S., as well as the court ruling, have been brushed aside by the administration. Darlene Hendrix

Darlene Hendrix

Apr. 16, 1950 – Mar. 28, 2025Our mom and friend Darlene Kay (Wait) Hendrix, a beloved soul with an unforgettable sense of humor and a heart full of compassion, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025.Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Dar carried the spirit of the northland —resilient, kind, and full of stories. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1969 and went on to attend Duluth Area Vocational Technical Institute. After many winters spent shoveling snow (not her favorite) and watching the waves of Lake Superior, she eventually found sunshine and new beginnings in Phoenix, Arizona, where she continued raising a family and built a life filled with purpose, community, and laughter.Dar dedicated her career to caring for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease, bringing warmth, patience, and light into some of life’s most challenging moments. To the families she worked with, she was more than a caregiver—she was a source of comfort and strength.A true lover of music and dance, Dar never missed an opportunity to move to a good tune—whether it was a spontaneous sing-a-long to a musical, singing happy birthday with her air guitar, a favorite oldie playing in the car, or a shared singing moment with family sparked by Name That Tune. Music brought her joy, and she shared that joy freely with others.Known for a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, as we liked to call them “Dar-e-isms”, she could make anyone smile or chuckle. Dar had a gift for finding joy in the everyday and sharing it generously. Whether through a perfectly timed joke, a mischievous grin, or a witty observation, laughter followed wherever she went. She is survived by her twin daughters Nikki (Nick Judson) Kostynyk of Duluth, MN; Lori (Tim) Kulas of Esko, MN; son Bill Brandes of Phoenix, AZ; along with 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 3 grand-pets, friends, and those whose lives were touched by her care, humor, music, and kindness. Two celebrations of life will be held privately with family and friends in Duluth, MN and Phoenix, AZ.Dar will be deeply missed but remembered always—with love, with laughter, with music, and with gratitude.Mom, we will forever miss your love taps. Thank you for being our person and our model of strength. We’re gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever ... Amen.
